Bollywood Fashion and Jewellery
Over a billion people across the globe watch and love Bollywood. The singing, dancing, colorful dresses, and stunning jewelry fascinates and attracts millions, regardless of whether you are a fan or not.
When it comes to bridal jewelry in Bollywood, the bigger, the better. In the past few years, some of the most stunning Bollywood actresses got married and gave us all serious jewelry envy. Let’s talk about everyone’s three favorite brides; Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone.
When it comes to Fashion, everyone knows that it starts and ends with Sonam Kapoor. From her lavishing designer dresses and hand bags, to her shoes and jewelry, Sonam Kapoor is always a show-stopper. Whether it’s on-trend contemporary pieces or valued heirlooms, Sonam knows how to work the best of both worlds.
For her Mehndi, she wore an ivory and gold lehnga, which had not been seen before on any bride, but leave it to Sonam to beat the odds with so much grace and style. She paired a stunning kundan choker with jhumkas that belonged to her mother keeping her traditional look alive. Even though everyone had been expecting to see loud and dramatic jewelry on the Bollywood fashionista, they were stunned when they saw Sonam’s minimalistic and toned-down jewelry on her mehndi.
For her wedding day, the Bollywood actress kept her bridal look very loud and clear. She wore a traditional red lehenga and finished her look off with a dramatic- yet breathtakingly beautiful pearl headpiece, a vintage choker, mala, and tons of bangles with Chura and Kalira- if you are going to be a traditional bride, then you better wear Chura and Kalira. They are essential and have been worn by brides within South Asia, specifically India for decades.
Moving on to Bollywood beauty, Anushka Sharma, who tied the knot with cricketer Virat Kohli in December 2017, set some serious jewelry goals. From being a Bollywood sweetheart, to becoming India’s most wanted Bachelor’s wife, thousands waited in anticipation to see what the Bollywood actress would wear on her big day!
For the engagement, to elevate her pre-wedding look, she wore a stunning uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs. To say the least, her Opulent necklace stole the show.
On her Mehndi, she kept her look minimalistic and matched her fierce fuchsia pink and Indian orange lehenga ensemble with a stunning pair of jhumkas. Take note ladies, no wedding is complete without jhumkas!
For her wedding day, however, the bride decided to match her gorgeous pink dress with jaw- dropping traditional jewelry which consisted of a headpiece known as a matha patti, jhumkas, and layered necklaces- Choker and mala- in jadau, pearls, and pink spinal. It would be an understatement to say that she looked like a pink Goddess in her beautiful attire and jewelry.
If anyone did justice to “The bigger the better” in terms of jewelry, its none other than the Queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone. She is not only the highest paid female actress in Bollywood, she has also made her debut in Hollywood. She has a massive following of millions on social media and is considered one of the most beautiful women in the industry. Her wedding was the talk of the town- in fact, many towns- when she tied the knot with actor Ranveer Singh. Everyone wanted a glimpse into Padukone’s intimate wedding in Italy and she did not disappoint.
For her Mehndi, Deepika teamed up her blush pink Sabyasachi kurta set with a beautiful pair of jhumkas and a multi layered, opera styled necklace or mala. As expected she made an effortless yet stunning bride.
While her smile was the brightest jewel she wore, Bollywood’s diva rocked her first wedding function ( Kokani wedding ) with an intricate choker, and a multi strand, multi layered Narvatan Rani haar set amidst uncut diamonds, rubies, pearls, and emeralds in 18 karat gold. She styled these stunning jewels with her Sabyasachi kurta set. Talk about jaw dropping.
For her Sindhi wedding, our fashionista was head-to -toe in Sabyasachi. She chose to glam up her breath-taking red lehenga with a 22 karat gold and uncut diamond jewelry; a statement head piece known as a maang tikka, jhumkas, a nose ring, a golden kalira worn with a gaggle of bangles and rings, a choker style flared necklace with an opera-style mala all of which was embedded with pearls, emeralds and rubies. She was also seen wearing chokers and oversized flared necklaces on most of her post wedding receptions and functions, along with large dramatic earrings and her gorgeous engagement ring. What a vision she is!
I think it is safe to say that Deepika, Anushka and Sonam set major jewelry goals for the rest of us. What more speaks Bollywood than these 3?
